Time Wounds All Heels, and, I Hope, Hostage Takers

Dear Senator McConnell:

At least you admit that you are a hostage taker. I appreciate this admission since it is also an admission that you are lying when you say you speak for THE American People. If you were speaking for us (which is impossible since your Louisville office doesn't allow us in and your Lexington office calls the police when THE American people show up to voice their opinions) you would not have to take us hostage to get your way.

"I think some of our members may have thought the default issue was a hostage you might take a chance at shooting. Most of us didn't think that. What we did learn is this -- it's a hostage that's worth ransoming. And it focuses the Congress on something that must be done."

-- Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), quoted by the Washington Post, on the debt ceiling negotiations.
