Dear Senators McConnell and Paul:
A week ago, I thought a row of misspelled words followed by a dozen or so exclamation points painted a clear picture of the average Republican voter. Thanks to YouTube, I now have a talking picture (video imbedded on blog, link attached by mail). As a party leader, Senator McConnell, I wonder if you consider how this level of ignorance in your base reflects on you. I will tell you what this says to me about you.
After watching this video, remembering your education townhall, Senator Paul, and considering what I read in Katherine Stewart's book: The Good News Club: The Christian Right's Stealth Assault on America's Children, it is quite obvious that your party preys on ignorant voters because you know you could never be in office without them. You waste air time making ridiculous, untrue statements about President Obama, Senator McConnell, and about “liberty” and “education”, Senator Paul, when you could spend that time educating your base instead.
Since I don't claim to be Christian, I can make judgements about others without being a hypocrite like you and your supporters who think you can judge President Obama based on lies, but can still tell the rest of us that we aren't supposed to judge others. By my standards, morals, ethics, beliefs, or whatever you would like to call them, the worst sin/crime/mistake you can make is to steal truth or intelligence from another. You do this, daily, and want to gut education to ensure generations of ignorant people who will vote against their own best interests in order to line your pockets and feed your egos. There is no excuse for what you do.
I hope you will watch this video and tell me that you would like to live among these people, that you are proud of yourselves for attracting these people to your cause, that you feel good about knowing that you have used religion and lies to turn them into who they are today, and that you are comfortable knowing that you forgo every opportunity you have to educate them. I want you to tell me that it is worth the money, and that your children are proud of their fathers for the roles you play in destroying minds and lives.
If I were your daughter, I would change my name and hope no one ever discovered my true identity.
Sincerely,
Sandy
