Reid Rescues Middle-Class Hostages from McConnell

Dear Senator McConnell:

I didn't call you when I polled friends about roller coaster rides. When discussing an analogy I wanted to use in a story, a friend let me know that he disagreed with me that going uphill was the scary part of the ride, downhill the thrill, and making it to the end without derailing such a relief that I just have to get back in line to relive it again, and again, until the park closes. Turns out people are divided; some agree with me and others believe going down hill is the scary part. After the roller coaster ride you were on this week, ending with  Harry Reid wins a big one on tax cuts,  I'm guessing you might fall on the side of coming down hill isn't so pleasant.
Reid finally succeeded in doing what Republicans have been fighting for nearly two years: separating the middle-class tax cut extension from the tax cuts for the wealthy, and that breaks the hold the Republicans have had on this hostage.
Whew. I hope you don't resent me terribly for enjoying the refreshing breeze of heading down this hill. I sure deserve it after living through these uphill battles to get there:

Hope someone is working on a script for you that doesn't make you look foolish by talking about how much money the Democrats waste.

To show that I play fair, I will let you know that THE American People I know aren't happy about this.

If you would like to run these ideas past me before you use them, I will gladly tell you how they can easily turn on you.
In this case, it would have been easy since the reason I so adore Lawrence O'Donnell is that he speaks straight from my heart.

Guess this sorta blows the accusations about which side doesn't bother to read bills, huh?

And then, there are the too-many-to-address Mitt Romney embarrassments. I'm choosing just one to share, since it highlights the disgusting hypocrisy of your party so well. Romney Advisor Guy Slamming Obama For ‘Leaks’ Was Same Dude Who Leaked On Valerie Plame

Hope you enjoyed your week as much as I did!

Running to get back in line for another ride,

Rand Paul lets me know that his religious beliefs are more important than the law or our freedom (Abortion)

Black type are Rand Paul, maroon are my responses to his letter.

July 23, 2012

Dear Ms. Knauer

Thank you for contacting me regarding your thoughts on when life begins.  I appreciate hearing your thoughts on this issue.  Yep, he appreciates hearing my thoughts as long as I don't expect him to actually care about them.
I believe life begins at conception and it is the duty of our government to protect this right to life for every citizen, born and unborn. But, Senator Paul, your beliefs don't matter. You supposedly went to medical school and should know that the products of conception are not people. When the conscience/soul/life enters the body is anyone's guess. I happen to believe it is when a fully-developed body exists the mother's body and takes its first breath. However, your lack of conscience/soul makes me wonder if for some it might never happen. Unfortunately, the Senate has failed to act on this and many other important issues. Wrong. The Senate acted on this somewhere around 1973. Abortion is legal. Honesty is a something we should be able to expect from elected officials so you might also want to mention that it has "acted on" many times since and, abortion is STILL legal. As a result, I offered an amendment to the Flood Insurance Reform and Modernization Act (S. 1940), which would declare that the right to life is vested in each human being at the moment of fertilization and protected by the Constitution. Yes, this ridiculously inappropriate action is what I addressed in the letter to which you are responding.
Unfortunately, the majority in the Senate did not even allow my amendment to come to a vote. Glad to know the majority did not allow your inappropriate abortion amendment to the Flood Insurance Reform and Modernization Act. It didn't belong there and I am embarrassed that you tried to put it there. The flood insurance bill, along with a student loan bill, was rolled into the conference report on H.R. 4348 the transportation authorization bill. In violation of Senate rules requiring legislation be available for 48 hours before being voted on, the conference report was made available for less than 24 hours before the vote. Members did not have time to read the bill or make helpful amendments. Please stop insulting my intelligence. You have time to do what you want to do. If people like you didn't stick ridiculous amendments into bills, you might have even more time to get through the whole thing. Ultimately, the Senate proceeded to pass the package of bills on June 29, 2012, by a vote of 74-19. I voted against it. The House of Representatives also passed the legislation and it has been signed into law by the President. What part of my letter led you to believe someone else might have written it in my name? I did mention that I know these things, and that I was writing to tell you how disappointed I was in your actions.
It has been my steadfast position that I will always vote for any and all legislation that would end abortion or lead us to in the direction of ending abortion. Which means you don't care about my position, or the position of the majority of people in this country, and that you think you have some "right" to force your religious beliefs into my life and government. And that makes you a huge hypocrite because you pretend to be all Libertarian and pro getting the government out of our lives. Hypocrite - just want to repeat that. I don't want you in my personal business and I want nothing to do with your religion.  Being pro-life is consistent with my beliefs in constitutional government. I've noticed you have a problem with the constitution as well as with medical facts. I'd like to suggest maybe reality television for your next career move. The federal government declaring that certain classes of human beings are not persons and therefore not entitled to legal protection is ultimate example of tyranny. This is a totally dishonest statement, Senator Paul. You can pretend that you believe a zygote is a "class of human" but you will be a liar and wrong.
Although we may not agree on this issue, I am sure there are many others on which we can find common ground. Doubtful. I will be surprised if we ever agree on a single thing. But I'll keep hoping.  Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of assistance in the future. I look forward to hearing from you again. I will not hesitate, although it is very difficult to get past Captcha on your site. I'm sure I look forward to it much more than you do.
p.s. I think it is ridiculous for anyone to ever demand an apology, because honest apologies come without request, so I'm not asking. Just want to remind you that I will never forget that you did not apologize to Lauren or anyone else for the head stomping incident.

Sincerely,
Signature
Rand Paul, MD

Mitch McConnell REFUSES To Do His Job

I appeal to everyone who reads this blog - Kentuckians, Americans, people around the world . . .

Mitch McConnell has proven, beyond any doubt, repeatedly, that he cares more about making it appear that President Obama is a failure than he cares about this country - or the world, since what happens in this country affects the world. This is unacceptable. His latest example of refusing to do his job can be found here: McConnell: No real deficit deal until Obama is gone

In addition, he has consistently reversed former opinions for no reason other than to hold up progress. His latest example of this: McConnell's Disclosure Flip Flop

And Senator McConnell continues to state dishonestly that he is speaking for THE American People, when
in truth, he is only speaking for his donors and handlers. Today's example: By a two-to-one margin, the public views President Barack Obama’s call to raise taxes on high-income earners as good for the economy, a new poll released Monday shows.

We must not allow Mitch McConnell, John Boehner, and the rest of the Adelson/Koch's puppets to hold our country hostage. Remember when Republicans insisted that Bill Clinton was their employee, and owed every second of his life to the job they expected him to do? And did you see the whining about President Obama playing golf on SUNDAY, as though they get to dictate every minute of his life? Why don't those hypocrites hold Republicans to the same standards, or at least demand that they not hold the country hostage for four years because their only concern is to see President Obama appear to fail?

I stress appear, because President Obama is not failing. Not by a long shot. He has accomplished more than anyone could have expected despite constant criticism and obstructionism.

I ask everyone to please contact Senator McConnell and let him know that he works for us, his job performance is unacceptable, and he needs to either do the job he took an oath to perform or resign, immediately. Copy the White House and Senator Reid.

Mitch McConnell Running Scared - And Early

"U.S. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has already raised $6 million to defend his Senate seat two years from now."

McConnell is facing possible challenges from the right and left

I'm hoping he'll be faced with an Independent, also. Really, really hoping for that.

I hope everyone in this country is putting money aside to help whoever runs against him. I guess I should say people around the world, since Citizen's United makes that possible.

Under Obama, Taxes Hit A 30-Year Low - Will McConnell Apologize for His Misinformation?

Dear Senator McConnell:

I expect to hear you apologize for your misleading statements on this topic.

Under Obama, Taxes Hit A 30-Year Low: /To hear conservatives and Tea Partiers tell it, President Obama is a serial tax-raiser who has increased taxes on “millions of Americans.” But according to the latest data from the Congressional Budget Office, tax rates under Obama hit a 30-year low in 2009, in part because of the tax cuts he implemented in response to [...]/

Senator McConnell

There is no excuse for anyone to be this dishonest. You do NOT speak for the American People. Last Monday morning, most of us (most, as in more than 50%) woke knowing that you are a dishonest hack who will say or do anything to try and hurt President Obama.

You have a lot of nerve making negative references to President Obama campaigning four months before his election, when you have been campaigning for months and you (unfortunately) aren't even up for re-election this cycle.

Your dishonesty, your ignorance, and your habit of thinking you can speak for Americans that you know nothing about and care nothing bring your sanity into question. I am encouraging THE American People to demand that you submit to mental competency testing since we are not safe as long as you continue to stand on the floor of the senate and misrepresent our President and the truth about your role in trying to destroy this country.

Let’s Talk About Redistributing Wealth, Senator McConnell

Dear Ofkarl*:

Remember when your buzz words were all about how President Obama wanted to redistribute the wealth? I knew then that it was just more Turdblossom Politics, where your party thinks it is so cute to accuse others of doing exactly what you anticipate you will be caught doing.

Again, you’ve been caught. 100% of the time, always, without fail, when you lie about the Democrats doing what you are, in fact, doing, you get caught. And, dependable as ever, you keep right on with your lies as though we aren’t going to notice.

The wealth has been redistributed, but not in the direction you said it was going, and not because President Obama hasn’t tried to stop it. We notice. Many of us notice that your party takes from those who need it most and gives to those who don’t need a thing, and that you propose to do even more of this if you can get away with it.

I am asking for an explanation. I want an individual response, tailored specifically for me, a constituent with a right to hear from you, telling me exactly why you think I should go without the things I need so that you and others who have more than you could ever possibly need, wallow in greed. Please, Senator McConnell, hold your head high, or tuck it between your legs, just tell me how you rationalize this so I can at least thank you for your honesty.

Something Mitch McConnell Would Never Do: President Obama Consoles Woman Whose Uninsured Sister Died Of Colon Cancer

Dear Senator McConnell:

I've been reading comments about you all over the internet today. Very few flatter you. In fact, most express disgust, and ask why we can't vote you out of office. I assure them that I am doing everything I can to make sure that happens - soon, and ask them to remember us when the time comes since dirty money will pour in for you. Finally, people across the country (and world - ever wonder who reads this blog?) understand that what you do affects their lives so they are paying close attention and not liking what they see.

The article linked below, Senator McConnell, demonstrates the stark difference between you and the man you so unjustly criticize. I understand that you are not in this for the money any more. You surely have enough to live well the rest of your life. My guess is that you are in it for popularity and power. I admit that I know nothing about your youth and am only guessing that the few friends you had were probably as cold-hearted and awkward as you, so your political career might be a "take that" of sorts.

I ask you, sincerely, to take a look at this and imagine how it must feel to be the kind of man that President Obama is. You've been around him. You  know he exudes goodness. Even people who might not agree with his politics recognize that and love him (I'll bet even your racist base, if they're honest). Anyone can change if the desire is there. Wouldn't it be nice to spend your remaining years being loved instead of hated?

President Obama Consoles Woman Whose Uninsured Sister Died Of Colon Cancer: President Obama stopped shaking hands for a moment today so that he could embrace a sobbing woman whose uninsured sister recently died of colon cancer. The sister of Stephanie Miller, from Sandusky, OH, would have been covered if Obamacare were fully implemented when she got sick. Instead, the woman was left without insurance and couldn’t [...]/p

McConnell: I’m ‘Not Convinced’ Congress Should Prohibit Insurers From Discriminating Against The Sick

I hope Senator McConnell sees the comments left on articles like this one. Out here in the real world, where the audience isn't hand-picked to agree with him, people aren't so happy with the things he is saying.

McConnell: I’m ‘Not Convinced’ Congress Should Prohibit Insurers From Discriminating Against The Sick: pSenate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) reiterated the GOP’s commitment to taking away health care insurance from millions of Americans who are expected to receive coverage as part of the Affordable Care Act, if Republicans win Congressional majorities in November. The senior senator from Kentucky, who himself enjoyes government-subsidized insurance as a federal employee, told [...]/p

Congressman Yarmuth Rips Senator McConnell On Health Care

Dear Senator McConnell:

About a year ago, I offered to come by and read the Affordable Care Act to you (or to have my grandchildren do it). I also said that I was certain Congressman Yarmuth, who was able to read and comprehend the bill, would explain what you didn't understand. I don't have his permission to speak for him but that's they kind of man I know him to be. Unlike you, he makes himself available, is extremely intelligent and honest, and is patient in explaining when asked questions.

Despite this - or maybe because of this - I am still confident in my belief that he would be willing to assist you in your terrible inability to understand or to admit that you understand the Affordable Care Act.

Affordable Care Act Classes

Dear Senator McConnell:

Just heard on the local news a clip of you speaking to a group at Hardin Memorial Hospital this morning. Once again, you mentioned the 2300 page bill, as though that is too much for anyone to expect you to read and comprehend. That's fine. We know you are lazy and you have whined about the burden of having to do your job for so long this is not surprise.

But, you added to that statement, "2300 page bill that nobody understands." This is a lie, and you know it is a lie. Many of us have read and do understand the bill. If you want to admit that you are a lazy fool, at least you are being somewhat honest for a change. You do not have permission to try and make the rest of us look like fools with you. That is disgusting and totally unacceptable.

Here are a few links that might help you.

http://www.healthcare.gov/law/full/index.html  (Site contains the entire bill as well as simple explanations that even you might be able to comprehend. Again, if you can't read, my grandchildren will come read it to you.

https://class.coursera.org/healthpolicy-2012-001/wiki/index University of Pennsylvania offers a free class: Health Policy and the Affordable Care Act

A good leader would know this bill inside and out and would be able to explain it so that his constituents would understand.

McConnell week in review: Uninsured 'not the issue'/Defends Koch Brothers

 Dear Senator McConnell:

Thanks for admitting, once again, how little you care about your constituents and the rest of the American people, who you continue to pretend you have a right to speak for even though you refuse to preface those statements with an honest "the few ignorant Americans who still support me and the wealthy who have bought me" disclaimer.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) suggested on "Fox News Sunday" that helping uninsured Americans get health care coverage is not a priority in GOP plans to address the health care issue.  McConnell: Uninsured 'not the issue'

Regarding this comment:
My own view has always been that if you can’t convince people of the wisdom of your policies, then you should come up with some better arguments. But for all its vaunted tolerance, the political left has consistently demonstrated a militant intolerance for dissent.” [Senator Mitch McConnell]
How dishonest for you to imply that the problem of messaging is not due to the fact that your party spends ungodly amounts of money to spread false information. My view has always been that if you can't convince people of the wisdom of your policies without lying and cheating, you are a pathetic loser.

Worse than dishonest is your use of the word militant in this statement when the right is owned by the NRA, the right chums around with militias, the right shows up armed, the right is promoting armed insurrection, the right uses war lingo while preying on school children . . .  if you were not a sociopath, shame would make you choke on those words.

And this statement:

"Charles and David Koch have become household names, not for the tens of thousands of people they employ, not for their generosity to charity, and not for building up one of the most successful private corporations on the planet, but because of their forceful and unapologetic promotion and defense of capitalism.”

Maybe you admire the Kochs, Mitt Romney, and others like them for being slick enough to destroy this country while lining their own pockets and off shore bank accounts. Decent people do not. People with morals, ethics, consciences, and basic human instincts know that success comes from being part of something bigger - giving and taking fairly, caring about others and the universe, and being honest with themselves and others - not from amassing fortunes to use to harm others. The sum of a person matters, so your disingenuous listing is insulting. I'll bet Charles and David Koch also use their napkins and refrain from farting in elevators but that does not balance out the evil they do.

Only a person with your uncanny level of gall could have said this during the same week as the Issa disgrace

"It’s very Nixonian, reminiscent of the Nixon years where there was an enemies list at the White House. This is a reckless and ruthless administration that will do anything to quiet the voices of its opponents.”
Hope it doesn't break your heart too much to know that you are regarded with less respect than Richard Nixon.

You have to live with yourself. I would hate to be you.

Sandy
